Renton Housing Authority asked Bumgardner to renovate its outdoor recyclable and waste areas at the Evergreen Terrace affordable housing complex. Bumgardner took advantage of the opportunity to create a prototypical barrier-free educational experience and community focal point that also serves as a covered waste and recycling disposal center. The shelters will be self-sustaining green-roofed structures that change with the seasons. The first two prototypes should be built by early summer 2010.
