Hired by the City of Seattle in 2008, Bumgardner organized and lead an urban design study for contiguous improvements along the long neglected and heavily used Denny Way corridor. This extremely busy street, formerly at the edge of the downtown Seattle, had served primarily as a vehicular arterial for many years. As downtown Seattle development activity expanded toward Denny Way, a safer and more inviting pedestrian environment became essential. Actively engaging fourteen private, institutional, civic and government agency stakeholders along the corridor, Bumgardner developed and led the entire process. The resulting Denny Way Street Master Plan is now serves to guide consistent and coordinated design review board recommendations and infrastructure investments.
