Bloedel Nature Reserve

  • Award of Outstanding Merit for Preservation and Rehabilitation of a Single-Family House

An adaptive re-use and interior restoration of the Bloedel estate house on Bainbridge Island.  The home was designed and built in 1930-32 by the Seattle architect J. Lister Holmes in the 18th century French style.  Bumgardner converted the family home into a visitor’s center and a new gatehouse was constructed at the entry to the estate’s Nature Reserve.
